I haven't been reading this list for a few days, so I missed this thread.
Unless Mozilla have changed the suite's behavior, the way to have Mozilla
work with a 3rd party mail application is to use a custom user.js file in
the Mozilla profile. If setting the default mailto app work for you, then
disregard this advice, but, if it doesn't, this should get you going.
Go to ~/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/User/random_characters.slt/
This is the Mozilla profile folder. You'll need to create a plain-text file
with Unix line endings containing the following:
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.external.mailto", true);
This may no longer be necessary, but it was at least in early versions of
Mozilla. This is not necessary if you're using Firefox.
