Folks I'm trying to help a co=worker and I'm stuck. We are switching over to
secure e-mail accounts at work that require both password authentication and
SSL for POP/SMTP servers. Port 995 is used for POP (incoming mail) and 465
for SMTP.

He uses Entourage 2004 so I've tried to duplicate things.

On 3 different machines we can receive just fine but not send.

On two of my machines I've also tried: Mail and Mailsmith. For both machines
the result is the same. Mail will sometimes send and smetimes get stuck in a
loop asking for a password. Mailsmith works flawlessly.

When I contacted Microsoft all they would say is "your ISP does not have the
servers set up correctly to work with Entourage".

One other piece of info that may be germaine: the first time I used
mailsmith a message popped up about the certificate not being signed by a
proper authority and sks if I wnt to continue; Mail does the same. Entourage
however just stalls after hitting the Send button. However, it isn't
*totally* locked up because you can go to various sub folders and read any
messages in them.

I've even tried creating new identities without having solved the problem.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
