However, there was one folder that ended up being corrupted (I believe) prior to export. It was a folder called "RealTalk" which was a high traffic listserv. When I converted over, I was having problems with this folder, which had over 50,000 unread messages. This is why I left all my mail behind, and only transferred rules, calendar events, and addresses. This seemed to work fine. When I started creating new folders (when you transfer rules, the folders stay behind) is when I started having issues. I'm beginning to understand how this works - that Entourage creates numbers for these folders - and that may be part of the issue. >> Now some of the new rules don't work - items are coming into my inbox. Had a heck of a time hunting them down and finding them. It did answer the question, however. The missing emails were there, and it shows that they were filed in "news" which is a folder I deleted when I redid the rules. Just sent a test message, and they are still going to the news folder, which doesn't exist. Sigh. So any ideas on how to eliminate a folder that I can't find, which has already been deleted? Did another rebuild this morning, so see if that might fix the problem and dispose of this invisible folder. I know that trying to troubleshoot this from a distance is difficult, and it usually ends some being some simple mistake that the user overlooked. But I'm pretty sure the rules are ok - I've created dozens of them, which have all worked up till now. If this new invisible folder thing doesn't answer some questions, I'd be glad to spell out the exact rules in my next email. > If you get stuck on a rule, give us the criteria you are using and someone > will be able to spot the problem. > > BTW, have you checked the example rules on the Entourage Help Page for > help? > > <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/index.html> > Just did. Helpful, but I think I knew how to do most of this. I think my issue may be different. Also tried to hunt down invisible folders on the troubleshooting page, but only got info on finding the entire database in lost & found. I'm thinking the best solution is to kill the offending folder - if I can find it - then clean up my rules. The one thing that may be an issue is that I have added redundant rules in my efforts to troubleshoot. In other words, sorting my "any to" = [EMAIL PROTECTED] was added as a rule more than once within a rule, since I was trying to see if the original filter may have been disabled within that rule. Hope that's clear as mud... Thanks for helping me with this! > Diane -- Richard E.
