I know this has probably been covered a lot before, but I can't seem to find it on the archives-page, so I hope somebody will help and repeat some things for me.

I recently helped a friend of mine migrate from OS9 to OSX (10.3.5). He was working with Office2001 and has now installed OfficeX (10.1.2 I think it is). We made a backup CD of his Office Identities-folder (including the Main Identity) before formatting the old hard drive, but I (or he) can't find a way to import that data into the new E'rage setup. I

It says it will import from the old app. but since we deleted that in the formatting proces, that's not possible. We tried to simply place the Messages-file in the new Main Identity-folder - having moved the new Messages-file to a secure location on the desktop - but it said it coulnd't read it.

You need to place the entire “Office 2001 Identities” folder in the Microsoft User Data folder. I believe you also need to have a copy of Office 2001 around (the one on the original Installer CD should do).

The process has been improved in Office 2004. First of all, you don’t need the previous version of Office. Secondly, when you go to import from Entourage 2001, a dialog should come up that, under normal circumstances, would list the identities to import and allow you to choose one. If  the identities aren’t found, the dialog still comes up, but you have to click the “Browse” button and navigate to the old identities folder which is on the backup CD.
