My wife and I just purchased a G5 iMac to replace our recently-deceased G3
iMac. It came with Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive pre-installed, so I
thought we'd put it through its paces (we moved from Outlook Express 4.5
through Entourage v.X on the former machine). Now that VPC7 is
near-to-shipping, I'm considering upgrading from Office v.X to Office 2004
Pro. However, I'm having a hard time getting adjusted to a number of
features/bugs with Entourage 2004. I kind of ignored most of the 2004
questions on this list when they first appeared, since I wasn't planning on
upgrading, but I took a look at the FAQ on the Entourage MVP Help page and a
few are still unanswered. I'm separating them into separate posts, so the
subject will be relevant.

1. Office 2004 Test Drive automatically checks the "Leave a copy of each
message on the server" box in the Accounts option "so that you won't lose
any mail should you decide not to buy the full version and go back to your
previous mail client, where all accumulated mail will download to update
it." I consider this a good feature, since I may decide to just go back to
the comfort of Entourage v.X rather than ponying up the $330.

However, the box directly below that, "Delete messages from the server after
x days," is also checked and greyed out and is set for 2 days (this was our
setting for the account in v.X).

Thus, our mail has been getting deleted from the server after 2 days. And if
the trial period ends without our having purchased 2004, we'll have mail
stuck in the 2004 database that we cannot get into v.X. Am I missing
something?
