I think if Office Notifications are involved, it must be in combination with something else. I have Office Notifications on always, and have never had this problem. My PowerBook wakes normally from sleep whether there are alarms pending or not (if alarms were pending, they pop up immediately upon awakening). 17" 1.5GHz G4 PowerBook.
