Hi Jud,

It happened again, but this time it was at the moment that the open Entourage 
was sent to the Dock, and the user wanted to open another application. It 
definitely is caused by of lack of disk space, in this situation.
When I rebuilt the database, the back up only held a rules file.
The Database Utility.log reported:
ERROR: BlockID #73 has an unknown data type (1145392197).
When I was loading the rebuilt database (Entourage was synchronizing the 
Inbox), I was being warned that only 10 MB was left, somewhat later 5 MB, and 
finally that the disk was full.
The user was not warned likewise when he was at work, though.
I'll advise the user to use OWA instead (and delete more of his mails) until 
more disk space will come available.
Hopefully, MS people can do something with this information when trying to make 
Entourage more robust against this kind of situations.

Hi Jud,

For the time being we are lacking of disk space indeed, but this will change
soon (of course; you are right about this sparseness).

Just when you wrote this mail, I was helping someone with a corrupted
database again. I'll describe the situation:

Yesterday his database was corrupted and I repaired it for him (it is very
difficult to exit Entourage in this situation, by the way). I threw his
back-up away and rebuilt his database.
Today he has been away from his Mac for a while, say one hour, and came
back, just when I came to visit him to ask how things went. Just then we
noticed that again his database was corrupted again.
As you state in your answer there should have been some warning messages,
but nothing was the matter, what so ever.
I checked his free space on the server: 80 MB.
I threw away his back-up made yesterday. Free space after that 160 MB.
I urged him to delete as much as possible in his mail folders (actually only
Inbox and Sent Items) and hope for the best, but I'm going to throw today's
back-up away too, just to be sure. I think, however, that it is not (only)
lack of space that causes the trouble, but what?
