Depends whom you ask :-). I prefer it; others hate it. My rules of thumb are: If the quote-backs in a thread are trending either up or down, continue the trend. If there is no trend, do what you like. Whenever possible, snip the unnecessary bits. Interspersing your comments also works fine.
