I don’t often turn my computer off. After a while, my email functions like someone walking in glue. If I type fast, some letters don’t appear and I have to go back and fill in, which irritates me to no end. And when I want to move a window, it’s slow to move. But if I turn the computer off and restart, then the emails fast like it should be. So what causes this, and is the only solution to turn the computer off more often?
I use Entourage from Office 2001 on OS 9.
Simple answer is "Yes" - OS 9 was never robust enough to run for days or weeks between restarts – it's not like OS X. You need to restart evry day or two to trim back the memory fragmentation and growth in temporary swap files and the like.
