No it is the big expose started by Chris Matera on the big clearcuts on
MA state forest land. I saw the preview tonight; it looks cool.
The Channel 5 investigative news team came to my house in Petersham last
month to see Joe and me. They interviewed me in my driveway and I said
that the Stewardship Council which is supposed to approve all Resource
Management Plans for our state forests doesn’t have one forester on
their Council so how can they approve these plans if they don’t
understand them? In fact they are just political appointees who will
rubber stamp anything DCR wants.
The other thing is the fraud called FSC “green certification”. I told
them it is better referred to as greenwashing and a waste of $2 million
of our precious tax dollars. I tried to get them interested in private
forestry issues but I’m not sure if they are going to go there. For
example the humiliating and discriminating policy of MA DCR to allow
anyone to “practice” forestry without a forester’s license really makes
my license and ¼ century of experience pretty much worthless while DCR
is still issuing lots of permits for liquidation cuttings despite laws
against it. But the forest bureaucrats and their environmental
organization supporters are starting to run scared now. They know the
public is going to be outraged when they see this so they’ll be running
for cover or should I say covering their asses.
