CANADA'S PILOT EMISSIONS REDUCTION PROGRAM WANTS COORDINATOR AND
A PART TIME DIRECTOR

The Pilot Emissions Reduction Trading Program (PERT) seeks to
hire two positions, a part-time manager, and full time
co-ordinator. PERT is an industry-led, multi-stakeholder,
membership-based initiative formed to evaluate the potential
environmental and economic benefits of open-market emission
reduction trading in Ontario. Its' membership has grown over the
past two years to 45 organizations.  Because of the potential,
further expansion is anticipated. PERT is managed by a large,
volunteer Working Group and several specific task teams. PERT,
currently co-ordinated by volunteers and a part time secretariat,
is looking for two contractors to assist with the overall
management and day-to-day implementation of the PERT program. The
PERT part time Director will work until March 2001 reporting to
the Working Group, through the Finance, Communications and
Executive
Teams. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing and
overseeing PERT's business plan, and assume overall
responsibility for its implementation in conformance with the
Working Group's priorities and annual budget.

The Director will supervise the team development of trading
protocols and provide senior level support as required. The
candidate is known for her/his excellent communication, and
facilitation skills and will be responsible for planning and
facilitating monthly Working Group and Executive Committee
meetings. The successful candidate will have senior level
environmental knowledge and some knowledge of economic and policy
instruments, but will thrive in a hands-on, micro management
working environment with full accountability for timely
deliverables. While some assistance will be available from the
PERT Co-ordinator, both positions will work in tandem, in a team
environment. This challenging action-oriented position involves
running the PERT Secretariat, providing membership support,
assisting with Protocol Development, keeping track of accounts
payable and receivables, co-ordinating both internal and external
communications a nd providing logistics and minute taking support
at meetings. It will suit an independent self-starter, with a
passion for detail and organization. Diplomacy, excellence in
communications and knowledge of information management systems
are key attributes for the successful candidate. While
demonstrated experience in a similar position is not necessary, a
previous success record in web site development and maintenance
is essential. This position will report through the team
structure to the Working Group. While assistance will be provided
to the Director,  both positions will work in tandem, in a
hands-on, team environment.

LECTURER RENEWABLE RESOURCES IN MALAWI

GERMANY SEEKS A COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT MODELLER

A mathematical modeller is required to work on projects on
Integrated Coastal Zone Management and Biogeochemical Coastal
Research by the ICBM Institute at the University of Oldenburg in
North Germany. The institute plans to establish a center for
integrated modelling (combining concepts from science, economy
and social sciences). Participation in the development of this
center, contributions to EU-projects and interest in teaching
