Hey all.....I have an opportunity of a life time, well, maybe I am
exaggerating a bit...but I have the ability to buy a 400 2.8 at an amazing
price.... $2000. I have used this before and it seems to be working fine.
Cosmetically it is messy, but that does not seem to bother me much as long as
it works. I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas of what I should check on
before going through wiht the purchase. This lens was used as a rental in a
small town so I am sure its had its far share of knock-ups. Do you think the
auto focus speed could be affected by anything, or if the suto focus is
working, does that mean that everything is ok. There seems to be a slight
ding/dent in the barrel near the filter holder....could this be affecting
anything at all if I haven't noticed it already? Any help on what I shoudl
okk for would be GREAT. Isn't there a 400 2.8 I and a 400 2.8 II? Is one far
superior over the other that if this lens is the 400 2.8 I, maybe I should
not go for it. My only concern is that if I spend DOUBLE for a better
condition lens, will I be getting my extra money worth or will I juust be
paying for cosmetics? Thank you for your help.
