Gerard:
I've used both, and think they are both effective in softening flash and
subsequently shadows, and giving a nicer look to human subjects especially.
I think the LumiQuest gives you a little more effective range but after
using the Sto-Fen with such good results, included the LumiQuest when I sold
my 540EZ and kept the Sto-Fen to use with the new (then) 550EX. As you have
already pointed out, the LumiQuest can be a little unwieldy on a flash but
stores nicely. The OmniBounce also stores nicely and slips on the flash in
a pair of seconds. So, all considered, the OmniBounce is the defuser I've
gone with because it does what I need it to do and is convenient to
use....sorry no empirical data on specific light loss.
