hello all,

it may depend on the individual lens. i have the 28-135 IS, and i have
noticed that when i use it tripod mounted there are some irregularities, but
they haven't affected picture quality. what i did observe was that at the
point when autofocus was achieved the whole picture jerked to the left and
then up in a kind of curved L shapped motion, then settled down. this of
course leaves me wondering if others have found some new way of composing
pictures accurately without using the viewfinder as this jerking is pretty
hard to miss if you actually look through the camera while it is happening.
:P

my suspicion is that, although i got a decent picture, this probably isn't
good for the mechanisms involved because they are being pushed to there
extremes. maybe canon just recommended not to use IS on a tripod to protect
IS from itself. well, that's my two cents worth.

Has anyone else noticed this with their 28-135IS? i was always puzzled by
this until i started reading the threads about not using IS with tripods--i
missed it in the manual, shame on me.
