As far as I know (and off the top of my head):

Scan Dual:  2400 DPI and SCSI-2 (only)
Scan Dual 2: 2820 DPI and USB (only)

One feature I like about the Scan Dual 2: It's slide/negative adaptor is 
fully motorized and automated. This means it can scan all 4/6 slides/negs 
automagically (it takes about 0.5-1.0 hrs, if you scan at 2820 DPI and 36 
bits, like I do).

features they both do *NOT* have:  ICE, bulk slide adaptor

but we're getting off the topic of Canon EOS....
