The fact that I have never had a problem re-loading a roll of film after a mid-roll rewind in the EOS-3 (or the A2E) without skipping a safety frame, leads me to believe that the IR sprocket hole counting is consistent beyond a doubt. That is provided I remember the number of exposed frames correctly, but that's another (embarrassing) story.
