I just got my 420EX from B&H, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it
works. I'm a little miffed at myself that I didn't see in the specs
that it won't take external power. But I just went back and checked
ther B&H entry and I saw that it said "Off-camera terminal = No" so I
figure that is it. But then I went and checked the 550EX and it says
the same thing. Now the 550EX *must* be able to take a power pack,
right? So this is not the spec, and the ads *don't* really tell you?
I'm confused. I was planning on getting a 550EX eventually anyway and
moving the 420 to slave status, but I do wish I'd known about the
external power issue. If "off-camera terminal" is not external power,
where in the specs does it say that a pack can be used? For both
flashes under "Power source" it only says "4 AA batteries." And what
*is* "off camera terminal?"
