Intereseting comments. But, personally, rather than
calling push-pull an advantage, I'd just say Nikon
blew the design of the zoom ring. There's no reason
it should require a greater arc than can be done
without moving the hand (except for poor desgin). I
have no such problem with my 70-200.
The comments by Pat Price are interesting, too. He
may well be a fine photographer, but I have to
question his acumen when it comes to hardware. Anyone
who owns an Elan II should know by now that all you
have to do is stick a folded piece of paper between
the battery and door, and the battery problem is
solved. And anyone who's shooting in extremely cold
weather with an EOS 3 and isn't using a PB-E2, or E1,
has his head stuck somewhere bad.
