I also think this is true. Just look at EOS 5. It was the second in line,
and every year for past N years there has been rumours about replacing
it...

Take away the ECF, put a built in flash, make it smaller, and you are
talking about completely different camera. Maybe EOS 30. And we already
have that.
And BTW, the shops here are filled with EOS 1's, 1N's and 1RS's. As well
as old flashes like 540EZ. No sign of used EOS 3... actually a relative of
mine did buy a used EOS 3... there was waiting line for used EOS 3's. They
are all instantly sold. So the conclusion of cameras sold here in Finland
is that pros are definitely not buying EOS 1N's - they're all selling
them. I don't know if they are buying EOS 3's or EOS 1V's, but as EOS 3
already has everything from EOS 1N + lot's more, I think that many pros
did buy EOS 3 already, and they have now lesser reason to upgrade to EOS
1V. Of course there are alwasy those who only consider it if it's EOS 1
something... :-)
But what comes to the amateurs... I own the EOS 50e, and I think that
it has very hard time competing against EOS 30 and EOS 300. The 30 is much
more expensive, but also much better. And the EOS 300 could be less
expensive, but it's even better than 50e in some ways... So, actually I
think that EOS 50 has already fallen... will the EOS 3 be next. Maybe.
It's just quite hard to think what could be done to EOS 3 without making
EOS 1V or EOS 30 out of it.
Best regard,
Hugo.
