Hi group,

now that the furor has died down over the 300/4 IS, I have a question
regarding mine. I want to pick up a 1.4x converter but I don't want to
spend the $$ for the canon. I have heard good things about the Kenko
and the Tamron Pro (I think), but I know that the Kenko is supposed to
make the 300/4 IS not autofocus (I have seen this caution in various
places, I believe including Kenko's website).

So the Kenko is out. My question is, does the good Tamron 1.4x
converter also cause the 300/4 IS to lose autofocus capability or is it
just the Kenko that does this?

Has anyone used the Kenko with the 300/4 IS and *not* had a problem
autofocusing, despite Kenko's warnings?

Thanks very much,

Mike
