I just tried to write this same exact thing... you know there was this
interview with one of the top Canon designers (if I remember correctly)
and he very clearly stated that in terms of durability and weather
proofness the EOS 3 is exactly as good as EOS 1N. The EOS 1V, on the other
hand, is better. But for some people it's not as strong and well sealed if
it's not called EOS 1 something...

I too wish it did have a diopter adjustment... well it has, but not built
in - and I'm just too lazy to buy one! Actually, why is this such a big
thing? Are the diopter adjustment eyepieces somehow bad or something? How
many times does the pro need to adjust the diopter? If the camera has only
one user (pros usually use only their own cameras, and don't lend them to
others), I guess the answer is: once. Now, for an amateur camera, that
might be used by the family members too, that is where I would think a
diopter adjustment would be needed more. But that just me.
Oh, I agree that there really isn't many things that EOS 1N could do
better than EOS 3.
