    Kim, I can't help you with why it happened. But I'd like to know why
you're trying to save those 6 frames, likely the cost of batteries to
advance to frame 31 would equal or exceed the savings.(not to mention wear
and tear on shutter and aperture for nothing) That's a lot of motor working
for nothing really. If I get a 36 exposure roll to anywhere near 30, I just
consider it done. Film is pretty cheap if you break it down to each
exposure. And if it's print film, you actually only pay per print, so it
really makes sense. Even with slide film, it just doesn't make sense to be
pulling a roll when it's almost finished, then re-inserting later. It sounds
like perhaps you should consider 24 exposure rolls too.
