But I understod you perfectly. What many people failed to understand is
what you are trying to do. To sum it up, I'd say you tried to get nice
looking flash shots without the deer-in-the-headlights look (i.e. correct
subject + very dark background) that results often with P mode. You'd
rather try to get some more light into the background (think about
28-135IS which could easily be used below 1/60s) while having all the
control about aperture. As some said, this can be only done with M mode
currently. But what I think is your problem (the same as I have) is that
with M mode in very fast situations with varying lighting conditions we
very often don't have time to check the shutter speed. Of we forget about
it all together. And that can very easily ruin the image.
What you suggested is the answer to this. I've been thinking about the
same thing since the first wedding I shot (I've done 2 so far). I'm agree
with you on this. It surely is the feature that we need! (The others just
don't know that yet ;-)
