FWIW, the Elan 7/EOS 30 has a metal front cover, to which the lens mount attaches
(the top cover is metal also). However, it is always a good practice to support
heavy lenses by the lens itself rather than the body--lens-mount stress tests in
the field are not necessary to achieve quality images. :-)
