This is of course normal procedure for snow or any unusually bright material
that dominates the frame, like beach sand or a white-painted wall. Your meter
doesn't know it is metering an unusually reflective surface and will underexpose
the scene. Conversely, unusually dark surfaces or areas require �minus� exposure
compensation so they don't come out too light.
