I was using the EOS30 with 550EX on the camera's Tv setting when I
noticed that setting the shutter speed to a shorter time than 1/125
caused the flash icon in the viewfinder to change to the icon for
high speed flash. Changing back to 125 or 60 and the icon reverted.
Puzzled, I checked the 550EX to discover that it had been left on
high speed synch from the last time I used it. (It was dark....).

Intrigued I looked at the manual for the 550 briefly (it was
dark....) and found no obvious reference to this behaviour. I am
hoping that with this combination of settings the 550 outputs a
single fill-in flash for shutter speeds slower than 125 and multiple,
high frequency flashes for shutter speeds above 125, which would be
logical and convenient, I think.

Can anyone confirm this or point to a part of the manual I have
missed that clarifies it?

Thanks
