Logan:
I recent got a flash arm from Really Right Stuff that would probably work
out well for you. It raises the flash nicely above the lens but of course,
does require you to get an off camera shoe cord also. I bought it primarily
to mitigate the red eye/eye shine problem I was getting from shooting
habituated wildlife at closer range. I found that worked out fairly well,
but am actually more pleased in having gotten the off camera shoe cord which
I use frequently now and hand hold the 550EX rather than shoe mount it for
nicer flash angles.
