My EOS 3 was manufactured in March 1999, and bought that June; I have seven EF lenses
(and sold another) and have never had a battery-drain problem (although some batteries
haven't lasted very long, probably because
I do a lot of focusing/composing without actually making an exposure). One of my
lenses is a 300/2.8L, *not* IS. This lens can cause some battery drain in normal use
due to the electronic manual focusing, but that's
a different issue.
