Canon USA will repair a "grey market" Canon product provided you supply a 
dated invoice (which your retailer should provide).  A Canon authorized 
service center will not -- the product has to be sent directly to Canon. 
Malarkey about "grey market" goods being sent back to Japan for warranty 
service is just that.
