I know this is OT:

But I was a bit disappointed to discover that, as far as I can tell, the
Sigma EF-500 Super, which works fine both singly and in multi-flash wireless
setups with my EOS-3 and 1V film cameras, doesn't work at all with the new
Powershot G2 digital (a wonderful camera, by the way). The flash fires, but
the timing is off and you get a completely underexposed shot, as though
there had been no flash burst at all. I've used my 550EX with the G2 digital
and it works perfectly as Canon says. I don't know whether the EF-500 Super
works with the D30--don't have one.

The EF-500 Super can be used in manual mode with the G2 if you just take
test shots till you get the manual power adjustment right. But forget about
TTL metering...unless there's some workaround that I'm missing.

I know Sigma doesn't make any claims about compatibility with digital
cameras, but I figured, well, if you've reverse-engineered the 550EX, then
you've reverse-engineered the 550EX. I guess it doesn't really work that
way.
