[In my opinion there's more to it than just the IS system.  First, my new
[lens is much less than $1,995.  And it "is" a dozy of an image
[stabilization system.  Three stops in lieu of two and the ability to use
[it while tripod mounted will do for starters.  Three stops is like
[having a f/1 or f/1.2 lens if you handhold.  If you would take the time
[to read the available website reviews, you might find many other
[advancements.  Plus, all it takes is that one special image that you
[would not have gotten without IS and it's worth it.  I don't think there
[are many on this list who would not pay $500. or $600. for that shot. 
[Quite frankly, I've spent much more than that trying to make that
[special image.
