That may be true for film cameras but I suspect it is not for digital cameras. As soon as 8 megapixel cameras become affordable, the 3 megapixel cameras will be pretty much obsolete and the cycle will continue as long as there is a perceivable difference in quality (how high can we go?!) Note that the E-100RS (a 1.5 megapixel camera) was a bit of a failure for Olympus I think for this reason. The D30 will always do well what it does well, but our standards won't stay where they are. They might slow down however - say after the D60 is born?!
