Terry, in addition to what Martijn wrote, I used the CP-E2 (with 550EX) at
an indoor 50th anniversary party for the in-laws a couple of months ago and
until the 4th roll, all flash, my recycle time was almost instantaneous.  I
was very impressed with this inexpensive external power source.  A nice
thing too about the unit is if you remove it from it's case, it can be
attached lying flat to the bottom of your camera (or BP-E1 in my case) via
the tripod thread so it's super convenient to use.  I use mine a lot when
doing indoor shooting or outdoor hand held macro.  I think they're a good
investment.
