I've got the 100-300 and I'm very happy with it, especially for the price. I paid about $200 three years ago, and it's never let me down. I agree that it could be a bit sharper when it's near 300mm, but I've never noticed anything that would make an image unsellable, in my opinion.
The only problem I've had is with the zoom. The zoom ring (the biggest one) sticks when it's turned, making it basically impossible to make minute adjustments to the zoom. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? It's been doing it since I bought it. My .02 and thanks if you can help me!
