Just doesn't seem logical to me. Because some users may not want the flash to go into High sync mode. You start to loose flash output when it goes to high speed sync. I personally like the warning I get (i.e. flashing flash symbol on my EOS 3). I prefer to have the opportunity to decide if I want to change my shutter speed/aperture or go to high speed sync.
