I shot a fashion show last night and had lots of frustration with autofocus. (I was using the -3 and 28-70 f/2.8, so that's almost as good as it gets, yes?).
In AI servo mode, I would get the first shot, but as the model walked toward me, the lens would zip to one end of the focus range, and by the time it came back to focus, i might lose the shot. I tried one-shot mode, but it just didn't lock on, and i lost the shot. ;-( The lighting wasn't bad, and i can't imagine that the subject matter wasn't contrasty enough for AF to work.
