I don't know about the Sigma, but I agree with Chris on the AF of this
lens.
I never missed a car while shooting CART races with mine.
Some say it is soft at the 300 end. I have not noticed this with some
prints
as large as 8" X 12". I don't usually record stops and speeds but I
don't think
too many of my shots were at f/5.6, probably f/8 or better.
I'd say, get this lens.
