I've just ordered my 10D. I hope it's as good as what I've read about! Should get in a few days! *********************************************************** I own both the 10D and the 1D, and thus have a perspective on the similarities/differences. In my opinion: In the 'sweet spot' of the 10D's intended purpose, there's no difference. The 6 MP images from the 10D are brilliant and solid. Some 10D owners complain of lack of sharpness. But, having experience with the 1D, and thus appreciation for the need for post-shooting sharpening, I'll contend that the 10D images can be every bit as sharp as the 1D. It's when your needs start 'straying' from the 'sweet spot' of the 10D that you start seeing limitations. If your AF needs are down to EV0, if you need 45 AF points that are razor sharp and fast, if you need to be able to shoot at 8 fps, if you need to flash sync at 1/500th, if you need a body that's built like a 'tank' (with corresponding weight), if you need a wider 1.3X FOV, if you need Firewire connectivity, if you need a full-frame viewfinder, if you need interchangeable viewfinders, and some other things, then, you'll want to purchase a 1D. But, the 1D's outside-of-the-10D's intended 'sweet spot' features will cost you about another $2000, so you'll paying for what you get. For the specific feature set the 10D is equipped with, for $1500, I believe this is the best digital 35mm SLR deal available today, Canon or non-Canon. If you already have EF lenses, then today's 10D is only $500 away from being able to purchase a digital 35mm SLR camera at an eventual 'home run' market price point of $999. Hope this helps.
