Outdoors shooting nature, AWB is working well for me. I seldom have to
but I usually do a slight tweak to some photos. I'm not printing
hundreds from each shoot, nor making hundreds up for a webpage or
client either. I might be lucky to get more than one real nice shot in
a day. So having to adjust is no big deal. Setting it in camera just
makes no sense to me. But i can see it for consistancy in other
shooting situations.

I haven't used the 10d for much other than birds photos, but I have
taken the odd photo of people, landscapes, flowers, etc and the AWB
has worked fabulously in all cases.
