Do not confuse emails with viruses (which might send copies of itself) with
spam. Emails that have viruses have some code inside them that can be
executed in some form (trying to keep things simple). Spam is
addverticements and other unwanted emails. And while there are some email
viruses alive out there, I'm betting it's spam that fills your inbox.

Norton AV, again I do not have it so correct me if I'm wrong, does not do
anything about spam and will not manage your emails in any ways. It will
however prevent you from running possible virus from inside email.

Spam filtering, like Popfile and SAproxy, will "manage" your inbox by
marking and moving/removing the unwanted spam.

Best regards,
    Hugo.
