Until you've tried different papers on a top quality printer, and compared results at the same ppi, you probably can't understand how loose the figures are. My prints on Pictorico glossy film, are in an altogether better category than those from my 1270 on Epson's best glossy paper. (Used to use Epson's glossy film, but supply in my part of the UK is now difficult.) What is worth mentioning is that fine CAD style line diagrams require the finest resolution setting on my 1270 to remove jaggies, whereas it takes a trained eye to see the differences with photos printed at the 720 ppi versus the 1440ppi settings set in the printer driver. (This is not the same as the pixel ppi, mentioned above.)
