Hi Mr. Bill,

Yes I have done this with my old EOS 1n and 1n/HS packs for the PB-E1/2
boosters. I'm a computer and electronics geek and used Mouser as a parts
source. I searched their site and found the highest capacity sub AA cells
that would fit at the time then un-soldered the old cells and re-soldered in
the new replacement cells. It was tight but worked great. I used my
standard E1 NiCad chargers but be aware that it took more than twice as long
to charge my then newly re-celled higher capacity E1 packs. I got around
this by using a high-end intelligent R/C charger/discharger conditioner and
charging at 600% the standard NiCad formula charge rate for this capacity
cell pack. This makes the charge times much shorter and the cells last much
longer in the field. I have not had to re-cell my EOS 1D or 1Ds packs yet
but would have no hesitation to do them with new cells when the time comes
if I can open the new packs as easily as the old E1 NiCad packs.

Cheers/Chip
