Hi Gary,

I had a go with my 10D, and decided that there must be a fairly strong IR
blocking filter built in.  The exposures necessary with a visible light
blocking filter were very long.  (On my Sony camcorders I can remove the
filter, and even illuminate close scenes with weak IR light from a built in
IR LED.)
I may have a another attempt with my Sony TRV60 which has a tolerable pixel
count for stills.
