Well, I never used CR2 Li's in my EOS30 with BP300. Used 4 AA's straight from the beginning. But there's an easy answer to your question: calculate energy! CR2 typically have a rating of 3V and 750mAh. You are using 2, so total energy capacity adds up to 1500mAh. AA's are within a range of 1,2-1,5V and 700-3250mAh. So in the worst case, 4AA provide 2800mAh. (Best case: 13000mAh!). Assuming the same drain (in mA), you can calulate that if 2 CR2's last you 20 rolls, the worst AA's will last you 37 rolls. But than again that's in theory ;-) The camera also drains power in standby, the batteries loose power over time anyway, power drain will be higher at the slightly lower voltage... So how does 30 rolls sound for the kind of use you have? (Theoretical best case: 173 rolls ???) To optimize battery life, don't use the camera's built in flash, don't play around with AF and don't keep the shutter button pressed half-way for too long before taking the shot, keep your batteries warm (20'C)...
