Hi,
I bought my ST-E2 some years ago, and its interface is simpler to use than
that on the 550EX (of which I now have 3*). Yes, it's not necessary, but
convenience can also be worth paying for.

*Good investment on Canon's part when they offered the EOS3, 28-135 IS &
550EX "for free" when you sent in the warranty cards for the EOS3 & 28-135!
It got me hooked, and the 550EX is so much better than the 380EX which I'd
bought earlier (with the 50E which was a disaster).
