Here's a reference to the first (mini-) review of this new lens that I've
seen on the web.

I'm particularly interested because, owning an EOS 10D for > 2years and
making heavy use of the EF 35 f2, 3 days ago I discovered that I'd damaged
its focusing. Like it doesn't - period. So, do I get it repaired (~£75) or
get the new Sigma with aspheric surfaces, "digital" savvy coating etc.?
OTOH my oldish Sigma 17-35 f2.8-3.5 EX HSM which worked perfectly a year
ago, also now seems to have a stuck focus ring. (2 dead lenses in the same
week-end!! Must be more careful.)
I know what happened to my EF 35 f2 - it got bumped fairly hard, but I
certainly can't remember doing any damage to the Sigma, and it's been
sitting in a cupboard since it's last outing. Perhaps it's much more
delicate than I thought.

I'm also taking slides again, and have just added a well priced and
near-mint s/h EOS 30V to my collection. I wear bifocal spectacles, and I
definitely am happier with its ECF which seems to work better for me, than
that on my EOS3 with its 45 points. It's also a much quieter body than the
EOS3. Hopefully, I'll have some results shortly.

Cheers,
