I'm amazed at how fast it can read the RAW files with the added value
of non-intrusive meta-data with the Google technology there to find
what you're looking for.

Is Picasa actually reading the raw file, or just extracting the embedded JPEG? iView Media Pro is really quick at reading raw files (possibly quicker then reading JPEGs), but all it's doing is grabbing the half-resolution JPEG that my D60 shoves in the file.

IMHO, at this point, Lightroom isn't really all that hot as an organizational tool. Once they add versioning and add IPTC support, it'll be a lot more interesting. I've been playing with it for most of the last week, and I'm really happy with its raw handling and UI. It's surprisingly easy to fix tough contrast problems using Lightroom's develop mode. I'll almost certainly buy a copy once it's released, unless Apple manages to make a lot of enhancements to Aperture very quickly.
