Hi,

I got some great feedback already including some feedback on the cross
browser compatibility of the new toolbar, which troubled me enough to do
some extra research. I focused on MSIE and FireFox on Windows and Linux
and tested the rendering of pages framed (with tree navigator and
banner) and unframed.

I attached the results (zip files with screenshots) of rendering to my
bugzilla for this https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=240279.

Text of the bugzilla is below.

Thanks and Regards,

Onno

All tested FireFox version render the toolbar ok. IE is not ok: 1) PNG

transparancy only works from msie7.0 upwards 2) positioning in IE is a
little

bit off (lower) causing extra whitespace.

The positioning issue can be fixed with CSS hacks. I propose we don't
fix the

PNG transparancy issue as this is a bug in IE and will be solved as
users

upgrade to more recent versions of IE.

First rendering without frames

--------------------------------

All tested FireFox versions render the toolbar the way it was designed
to be

rendered:

firefox-1.5.0.12-pld-titanium ok

firefox-2.0.0.4-windows-2000

firefox-1.5-windows-2000

firefox-2.0.0.14-ubuntu-7.10

firefox-3.0-windows-xp

NOK but usable, PNG not transparent:

msie-6.0-windows-2000

msie-5.5-windows-2000

Almost OK, positioning is a few pixels off (lower), causing extra
whitespace

msie-8.0-windows-xp

msie-7.0-windows-xp

Rendering when in frames

------------------------

All tested FireFox versions render the toolbar the way it was designed
to be

rendered:

firefox-2.0.0.14-pld-titanium (navbar is grey)

firefox-1.5.0.12-pld-titanium (navbar is grey)

firefox-3.0-ubuntu-8.04

firefox-2.0.0.4-windows-2000(navbar is grey)

firefox-1.5-windows-2000

firefox-3.0-windows-xp

NOK but usable, PNG not transparent:

msie-6.0-windows-2000

msie-5.5-windows-2000

Almost OK, positioning is a few pixels off (lower), causing extra
whitespace

msie-7.0-windows-xp

Subject: EPF Wiki 1.5 release candidate

Hi all,
What is in CVS for EPF Wiki right now qualifies as a 1.5 release
candidate, I think, so I tagged as the first release candidate
(EPFW_R1_5_RC1).

I use the contents of CVS to do a daily deployment to my own server. If
you are interested to see the results live, you can find them here
http://dailybuild.epfwiki.net. The server is rebuild every day at 12:30
to 13:30 GMT so you will not be able to access around that time.

A few test accounts are created:
- Main administrator: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with password
George Shapiro
- Administrator: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with password Andy Kaufman
- User: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with password Tony Clifton

You can also sign up if you want, email is configured on that server. If
you don't, if multiple users logon using the same account and start
making changes, it can lead to strange results, but maybe you are lucky.

I receive detailed error reports from that server, so if you play around
with it and something is not working as it should, it will be useful
input for me.

If you want to install this yourself, you can download the build and
there is a installation guide for Windows. Excluding time for
downloading the components, it takes a little more than half an hour to
install yourself.

*       http://wiki.eclipse.org/EPF_Wiki_Installation_Guide.

I am not finished with the installation guide for Linux, which is the
preferred platform for EPF Wiki.

For those who are interested in de development bit, there is also a
development guide

Onno
