Socratus,
I tend to share your view on life and death having to do with presence
and absence of photon.
As you noted, noting is new as any thought has an ancient echo. For
instance Genesis 1 tells us in the beginning was darkness and voidance
until the Spirit of God hovered on it - then information went forth
and things started happening.
At any local environment absence of light leads to death. This light
is physical as it is seen and ignites a system into action, but it is
also non-physical as it also means information. Without information
the system will at most be a busybody.
