Ercoupers: As I tried to sell my Ercoupe to move up to a bigger airplane, a pre-buy by a knowledgeable Ercoupe mechanic discovered a long list of "firewall forward" problems that need to be addressed. There were a number of things that weren't done/documented properly when it was restored and some installations that weren't TSO approved. All the necessary work will total in the thousands of dollars. I've decided to keep my plane, get it fixed up right and continue to fly it for the forseeable future. I'll be back in the air within a month or so and hope to make some of the midwest fly-ins this summer. While I'll be "upside down" with this airplane - I'll have a lot more money into it than it will be worth - I look forward to the fun and simplicty of owning and flying this classic airplane for the years to come.
